My Style & Approach

I take a person-centred approach to help my clients. I endeavour to create a therapeutic environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your challenges. Furthermore, I work collaboratively with you with the goals of fostering hope and creating meaningful changes in your life.

I hope that when you participate in counselling with me that you will be able to gain new insight into your needs and values, build skills and knowledge to manage your struggles, as well as bring about new meaningful changes. Furthermore, I believe in working hard as part of your team as you work towards flourishing in life.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

After over 15 years working in a corporate setting in the Banking industry, I left that career to pursue my passion for connecting and helping others. I returned to school and graduated from Yorkville University with a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

I firmly believe that the field of psychotherapy is constantly evolving and that effective therapist continues to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. To keep with that goal, I continue to take on additional training in various therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.

For the past few years, I have worked with clients with various mental health challenges including depression, stress, emotion regulation, and anxiety. Furthermore, I have also worked with individuals such as law enforcement and first responders in dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My experience also includes working with youth who are struggling with the challenges of growing up in today’s ever-changing society. In the past, I have also volunteered at Durham’s Distress Centre. There I worked with callers struggling with suicidal thoughts and working with them to keep themselves safe.

Personal interests

I love spending time with my wife and children. Most of my time is spent being with them in their activities be it playing soccer, visiting the park, or participating in martial arts. In my personal time, I enjoy practising Filipino Martial Arts with my small group of students. This matters a lot to me since it allows me to get some exercise but also connect with my heritage. I also enjoy playing the bass guitar and listening to music.
