Student Opportunities
New Roots Therapy offers volunteer positions and practicum placements to qualified postsecondary students. To date, we have had students on our team from the University of Toronto, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Yorkville University, and Adler University. Our student positions have included administrative practicum placements, as well as clinical practicum placements for graduate-level students enrolled in a counselling psychology (or similar) program.
We believe that clinical practicum placements are a great opportunity for both training counsellors, who have the opportunity to practice their skills and further their knowledge in a supportive learning environment, and clients, who have the opportunity to access high quality counselling services at a reduced cost. Our experienced psychotherapists, as well as our team psychologists, provide extensive supervision to our training counsellors so clients can be assured of receiving excellent care during the course of counselling.

CLINICAL PRACTICUM OPPORTUNITIES
Thank you to all that applied for a May 2024 practicum placement at New Roots Therapy. The practicum placement process for May is now closed. Candidates interested in a September 2024 placement can submit their applications, and we will reach out to successful candidates to schedule an interview. If you are interested in a September 2024 placement, the recruitment process will begin in February/March.
Successful candidates will have prior experience in providing direct counselling services, and will be aligned with our core values. Some experience in relational counselling (e.g., couple or family work) is an asset.
