My Style & Approach

I believe in the power and strength of each person in creating and maintaining positive change in their life. I understand various influences that contribute to every individual experience, and I hope to offer the support you need during the therapeutic process. My approach to therapy is to provide an empathetic and non-judgmental space for clients to explore and share their experiences. Therefore, I welcome each client with respect and understanding, offering a safe space for them to determine and work towards therapeutic goals. A client-centered approach to therapy guides me; I understand that each person is unique in their journey, and I want to honor and respect everyone’s individual values, and beliefs by working to understand your experiences and worldview. Utilizing a client-centered approach, I aim to collaborate with you to tailor therapy and offer therapeutic tools that best suit your individual needs and goals. It is important that you feel heard and understood through this process; you are the expert of your own life, and it is my privilege to help you navigate the therapeutic journey. I hope to work with you on building your strengths, determining your goals, and supporting your self-discovery.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

I have a Master’s degree in counseling psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University. Additionally, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Psychology from Trent University. During my Master’s program, I continued to work as an occasional teacher in the Durham region. I have taught children from elementary to high school and gained valuable experience working with different age groups. My work as a teacher has allowed me to meet and learn from other mental health professionals, including child and youth counselors and social workers, deepening my understanding of childhood and adolescent social-emotional and behavioral challenges. My educational, personal, and professional experiences have allowed me to understand from various perspectives how life experiences impact individuals of different ages and the importance of working through past and current traumas and experiences to promote healing and change.

I have also completed Narrative therapy training. Future development will be focused on systemic/family therapies, trauma-focused therapy interventions, and emotion-focused therapy for both couples and individuals.

Personal interests

As a mother of three young girls, I spend most of my time with my family, from dance lessons to soccer games and many other extra-curricular activities. So, you will likely find me catching up on a favorite show or drawing away in my sketchbook when I get some alone time. Aside from spending time with my family, I also enjoy catching up with close friends and indulging in a great cup of coffee.
