My Style & Approach
My approach begins with getting to know who you are and the many influences that have shaped the person I meet, both in our first session and in every session moving forward. I strive to create a collaborative, affirming, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. My work is relational and trauma-informed, grounded in the deep belief that you are the expert of your own life.
My therapeutic style is also informed by my own healing journey. I know firsthand the fears and apprehensions that can come with starting therapy, as well as the quiet hope and trust we try to build within ourselves. As a racialized, queer, and neurodivergent person born to immigrants and raised in Canada, I draw on my lived experiences to travel with you through your own story with empathy and curiosity. I aim to hold space for the complexity of your history while honouring how culture, religion, family, and identity intersect, often within larger oppressive and institutional systems.
I use an integrative approach, collaboratively tailoring our work based on your unique goals and needs. This might include exploring how your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs shape your behaviour and how those patterns might shift with greater awareness, self-compassion, and support. Together, we can co-create a space where reflection, joy, sorrow, humour, and healing can coexist. From there, we begin the journey of reconnecting with your values, building self-trust, and navigating life’s complexities as your most authentic self.
Education, Training, & Professional Development
I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Prior to this, I obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Certificate in Career Development and Academic Advising from the University of Calgary. My personal and professional development spans multiple life transitions — from living in different countries, to working for over a decade in corporate business environments, to pursuing entrepreneurial ventures, and most recently supporting individuals within the non-profit sector through employment services.
Working with individuals navigating multiple barriers to employment has shown me just how deeply our identities can become enmeshed with our work, especially considering that employment often takes up nearly a quarter of our lives each week. I have a particular interest in supporting newcomers and individuals newly diagnosed with ADHD. In both cases, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space while understanding the complex stressors that come with either relocating to a new country or beginning to see your life through a new neurodivergent lens. Additionally, my volunteer work with LGBTQIA2S+ youth has shaped my appreciation for community care and affirmed spaces where people can show up fully as themselves.
As my community lovingly teases, I am a forever student. I’m dedicated to becoming a better therapist through continued training and certifications so I can offer support that is relevant and responsive to the needs of those I work with. I currently draw from evidence-based practices including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). My ongoing professional development also includes training in trauma-informed care, anti-oppressive practice, and somatic approaches to healing.
Personal interests
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy cooking, gaming, hiking, reading, listening to music, spending time in nature, caring for my 50+ plants and being a cat dad. I’m passionate about community building, mutual aid, and learning from others. On weekends, you might find me experimenting with new recipes while listening to podcasts, hosting dinners for friends, taking on an interior decorating challenge or training for a 10 km race.
