My Style & Approach

I strongly believe that there is healing in connection with others and therefore, my approach to counselling is compassionate, collaborative, and client centered. I consider my clients as experts on their lives and possessing unique strengths that can be drawn upon for a personalized and tailored approach to counselling to create positive lasting change. I believe in the importance of an integrative therapeutic style that utilizes evidence-based modalities to meet your unique needs. I also strive to provide a safe, accepting therapeutic space, based upon the principles of empathy and respect, where you can share your story without fear of judgement. I am deeply passionate in my commitment to embark on this journey of healing and growth with my clients.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

I have completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Prior to Yorkville, I have obtained an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Brock University and an Addiction and Mental Health graduate certificate from Durham College.

In my professional and academic career, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of individuals experiencing mental health concerns, addiction, and trauma. For several years, I have supported homeless and marginally housed individuals in a Case Manager capacity, which has taught me the importance of my non-judgmental and trauma-informed approach. I have also served as a helpline volunteer at a local Distress Centre and as a student in Crisis and Transitional Housing Programs with clients experiencing severe mental illness. It is these experiences which helped me recognize the strength in healing through connection with others.

Personal interests

You can often find me curled up with a good book and my dog, Abby. I am very passionate about music and believe that it can be a powerful emotional and therapeutic outlet. Besides listening to music, I enjoy playing piano and collecting vinyl records. I also love regularly getting outside to connect with nature, taking daily walks, and watching movies!
