My Style & Approach

I believe healing is a deeply personal journey that is unique to each individual, and my role as a therapist is to foster an empathetic, nonjudgmental, safe space where you feel empowered to explore challenges and work toward meaningful change. As both a consumer and provider of mental health services, I understand the importance of genuinely feeling seen, heard, and supported in your healing process. As such, I take a collaborative approach to therapy, fostering a strong therapeutic relationship where we work together to identify your strengths, navigate obstacles, and create goals that align with your values. My approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, ensuring that therapy is tailored to your individual needs.

I integrate techniques from various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Narrative Therapy. Through our work together, I aim to help you develop self-awareness, self-compassion, and a deeper connection to your values so you can live authentically and create lasting change.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

I am currently completing my practicum as a Master of Arts student in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Previously, I completed my Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trent University and a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Durham College. My academic and professional development focused on evidence-based therapeutic approaches, ensuring that I bring the most effective tools and strategies to my practice.

Additionally, I have worked in the mental health field for the last five years. This includes working as an addiction counsellor in a women’s inpatient unit, a residential counsellor in youth housing, a community case manager, and a group facilitator. This breadth of experience has allowed me to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, gain a deeper understanding of the challenges they face, and develop a well-rounded approach to therapy.

Personal interests

In my personal time, I often enjoy the restorative effects of nature. I also love spending time with my spoiled chihuahua and immersing myself in fiction novels. Staying active is an important wellness strategy for me, and I have been practicing yoga and kickboxing. These activities help keep me grounded, reinforcing the importance of self-care, which I also encourage in my work with clients.
