My Style & Approach

Sometimes people come to therapy knowing exactly what they want to change. Other times, they simply know that something isn't working - they're feeling overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, struggling in an important relationship, worried about their child, navigating a major transition, or finding that the ways they've learned to cope aren't helping in the way they once did.

Wherever you're starting from, I don't expect you to arrive with everything figured out.

My style is warm, curious and collaborative. I want therapy to be a place where you feel genuinely understood and never judged, while also having someone alongside you who can help you notice patterns, recognize strengths that may be difficult to see right now, and find meaningful ways forward.

Over more than 15 years in the mental health field, I've had the opportunity to work with people across many different ages, stages of life and circumstances. My experience includes supporting children, youth and adults with anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, substance use, relationship challenges, life transitions and times when life simply feels difficult to manage.

I also have extensive experience working with children, parents and families. When a child is struggling, I believe it's important to understand not only what is happening for that child, but the relationships and environments around them. Depending on what is needed, our work may involve individual therapy with a child or young person, parenting support, family therapy, or some combination of these.

Whether I'm working with an individual or a family, I don't believe therapy should focus only on what's going wrong. I'm interested in what you've already survived, what matters most to you, what is working — even in small ways — and what becomes possible when we build from there. I will notice and celebrate progress with you while also helping you make sense of the places where you continue to feel stuck.

My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based and tailored to the person in front of me. I draw from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, rather than expecting one approach to fit everyone.

Ultimately, my hope is that therapy helps you understand yourself and your relationships differently, reconnect with what matters to you, and develop greater confidence in your ability to navigate whatever brought you through the door.

Education, Training, & Professional Development

I am a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist with over 15 years in the mental health and substance use field providing therapy and clinical management across community and hospital based systems. I received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Windsor, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto specializing in children, youth and families. I have additional training in Clinical Supervision, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Having provided individual, family, and group therapy alongside clinical supervision of therapists and students, I have a passion for ongoing learning. I have participated in and facilitated various clinical workshops, am a former Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Toronto, and recipient of the Jason Kelly Leadership Award in their Solution Focused Brief Therapy Program.

Personal interests

The things that bring me the most joy are my two boys, my husband, laughter with friends and family, and a warm cup of coffee on a campsite. My children remind me to slow down, enjoy the small moments in life, and connect with nature where I find fresh air to be rejuvenating and energizing.
