Education, Training, & Professional Development

I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and I currently run my counselling practice out of New Roots Therapy - a supportive and dynamic therapeutic community.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University. While working in non-profit and private organizations, I cultivated my passion for supporting the mental health needs of others and completed related certificates and courses. With the Coaches Training Institute and YWCA, I received training in solution-focused and collaborative approaches to personal growth and problem-solving. I completed certification in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and am currently working towards certification in Mindfulness Meditation through the University of Toronto.

I have over 12 years’ experience as a director of personal development programs for youth and adults. As the Assistant Director of a youth-based travel organization, I monitored and addressed the mental health needs of clients involving issues of anxiety and depression, stress, relationships, suicide ideation, behavioural challenges, trauma, conflict resolution, eating disorders, and autism spectrum disorder.

My volunteer experience as a crisis line support worker with Toronto Distress Centres has provided me with a trauma-informed approach to crisis intervention. I am especially passionate about helping clients to achieve empowerment and resilience by exploring the ways in which social location impacts our self-concept and everyday lives. Both my professional and volunteer experiences have exposed me to a variety of client populations including diversity in age, race, gender identity, culture and sexual orientation.

My Style & Approach

Nobody on this Earth knows you better than you. You have walked the longest in your own shoes! As such, I approach therapy with the philosophy that you are the expert of your own life. Whether you are coming to therapy to address issues with anxiety, depression, relationships, self-esteem, etc., I am here to listen and help you navigate this opportunity for growth.

My therapeutic orientation is rooted in creating a safe, supportive space built upon trust, respect, self-acceptance, non-judgment, and empathy. Our humanity is shared in that we all experience stress, pain, and conflicts within our relationships. Often times our most challenging relationships are the ones we have with ourselves. In this way, our issues with others can improve when we focus inward and work through the pain that exists within. Collaboratively and through an approach that considers both mind and body, we will work towards developing a realistic plan in an effort to reach your therapeutic goals. I can’t wait to meet you!

Personal Activities

I have a strong passion for movement in any form; whether it’s yoga, dance, or walking. I also have a keen appreciation for stillness, from practicing mindfulness meditation and reading, to watching movies, napping, and scrolling Instagram for puppies. I don’t know what I would do without music and I adore many genres. I also love to travel and spend time with family and friends. Above all else, eating good food and laughing are my favourite activities!
