Psychotherapy & Counselling
Each practitioner on our counselling team presents a diverse set of skills, knowledge, and experience, as well as a unique style and approach to therapy. Altogether, our psychotherapists and counsellors work with individuals (children, youth, and adults), couples, and families experiencing a variety of concerns, including:
Separation and divorce
Parenting and blended family difficulties
Self-esteem and body image
Personal identity concerns
Relationship challenges, conflict, and transitions
Depression and anxiety
Grief and loss
Stress management and life transitions
In addition to our fully trained therapists, Master’s Level Training Counsellors are available to provide psychotherapy and counselling services at a reduced rate, under the supervision of our experienced therapists. We Provide a Strengths-Based Approach Tailored to Your Unique Needs
Our therapists and training counsellors use a wide variety of approaches in their work with clients. Some of the more commonly used approaches on our team include:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Mindfulness and Body-Centred Practices (including Somatic Experiencing)
During the warmer months, some of our therapists offer Walk and Talk sessions. We also offer online therapy, which can be a great option for those clients who find it challenging to attend sessions in person or who prefer more discretion in attending therapy.
New Roots Therapy also runs the Durham Couples' Clinic, which is staffed by our experienced relationship therapists and training counsellors. Click the button below for more information about the services, programs, and workshops offered by the Durham Couples’ Clinic.
